What is Breast Implant?

Breast implant was developed to resolve the debilitating results obtained by injecting the substance directly into the breast for growth. In fact, in the 1960s, California and Utah classified the use of silicone injections as a criminal offense.

Nipple implants are used in cosmetic surgery to increase a woman’s nipple size (breast enlargement). Breast reconstruction (e.g. to correct for genetic malformations or after a mastectomy. Or from male to female sexual reconstruction surgery).

In the 1950s, poly (vinyl alcohol) sponges promote as breast implants. But the result was sick as well. Thomas Cronin and Frank Gerow, plastic surgeons at the University of Texas, invented the first silicone nipple replacement in the early ’60s, a silicone shell filled with a silicone gel.

Various variants of this device have to try for many years, including cladding the device with polyurethane foam (natural Y implant). There was a problem with this form of breast implantation.

However, basic silicone rubber – silicone gel was generally acceptable for breast implant performance (Bondurant et al., 1999).

Type of Breast Implants

The type of implant commonly used in the UK is silicone gel, but saline implants are also available. You should discuss with your surgeon that the size and type of implant are best for you, but below is a rough guide. So let’s start:

Saline Gel Implants :

These filled with soft or firm silicone gel. Implants filled with solid gel are called combined gel implants. Some have polyurethane coating on them.

Pros: Normally, the plait is less likely than saline implants. The soft type can give a natural feel. Polyurethane-coated is claimed to reduce the risk of rotating capsular contractors and implants – see what could go wrong.

Cons: If planting a soft gel, the silicone can spread to your breast and mass the silicone – see what could go wrong. It is much less of an issue when using integrated implants, but this solid gel does not seem as natural. Polyurethane-coated can cause temporary skin reactions.

Saline Solution Implants :

Pros: If the implant bursts, the saline solution can safely get out of your body or go away.

Cons: Likely to break or deflate earlier than silicone, they tend to collapse slowly over time. There is a higher risk of bumping or folding. Can feel less natural than soft silicone.

How long do breast implants last?

Breast implants will not last a lifetime. They need to replaced at one point. Some women may need more surgical treatment after about ten years because of implant problems or because their breast implants have changed around.

Cost of Breast Implants

How much it costs to have a breast transplant depends on the location, the doctor, and the type of implant used. Typically, the surgery ranges from $5,000 to $15,000. Since this is a cosmetic procedure, health insurance generally does not cover breast enlargement.
